give me a break, I have a wedding to plan.
I've taken a couple of decent excursions recently. The first was back out to the DC monuments at night. When I went last year, I didn't have a remote shutter, making it very hard to get a decent shot at a 30 sec exposure. This time, I was loaded down with better lenses, a better tripod, and a remote shutter, along with my 50D, which has a better ISO than my old 10D. The result...awesome shots. Well, decent shots. A couple of great ones, and a bunch I didn't like at all. I was a little short on time when I went...it started raining as I was walking back to the metro. I also didn't want to do a lot of what I had already done. I did get to experiment with moving people in a long exposure, a technique I'm going to play with some more.
The second was an unexpected trip during the Trek Demo Day. =pixalias and I were out riding new Trek mountain bikes when my ears got too cold to keep riding...think pulsing headache around each ear. He had his Nikon with him, so I borrowed the Nikon and grabbed a memory card and went out and shot them riding. The results were great. I have to say, I like my Canon better, but the Nikon was fun to shoot with, if for nothing else than to experience a Nikon. It was a beautiful day and the fall colors really enhanced the photos.
Speaking of my Canon, I've been getting much better shots now that I've figured out how to use the bloody thing. It took a while to get the metering right, but I'm getting good exposures now. I'm trying to figure out what my next excursion will be. I am going to the aquarium this weekend. I want to do some more night time shooting as well. I need to wait for the next full moon and head out to the parks.
Peace
